Sweet Waters

Sweet waters is at the forefront in the conservancy program in Kenya and the conservancy has the largest number of black rhinos in the whole of East Africa. Sweet waters is the only Kenyan chimpanzee sanctuary and host a very large number of endangered and rare species. This tented camp is located at the centre of Ol Pejeta conservancy of 110,000 acres of land. The camp lies on the plains of Laikipia and it is 17 kilometers from Nanyuki town and 217 kilometers from the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. To get to sweet waters tented camp one can use either road or air.

Magadi, . When traveling to sweet waters camp from Nairobi by road it will take approximately two to three hours. There is an airstrip at Nanyuki which is 17 kilometers from the camp and transfer services from the airstrip to the camp can be provided. Sweet waters tented camp has facilities including; swimming poll and extensive grounds for relaxation, private waterhole and night viewing bar, colonial styled lounge bar, daily day and night game drives by four wheel drive vehicles, luxury tented accommodation, central rhino restaurant, wedding planning and honey moon venue, conference room, gift shop and business centre, daily cultural dance and music, treks on camels, nature walks that are guided, riding horses and bird spotting activities.

The accommodation and facilities of this camp are very classy. The camp has 40 en-suite tents with some tents on wooden platforms while others are erected on raised wooden platforms. All the tents are covered with thatch and this ensures that it is cool inside the tents even on the hottest days. This ranch which was the former home of Adnan Khashoggi, a millionaire, is home to a variety of birds and exotic flora. The house is furnished with unusual and original artifacts and paintings, has beautifully appointed suites which are six and overlook two swimming pools and extensive tropical gardens.
